Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving the history and cultural heritage of Clay County and presenting its heritage with exhibitions, events, and programming. Our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share the history and culture of Clay County, Minnesota. In short, we tell local stories.

HCSCC's offices, archives, and museum are located at the Hjemkomst Center. We direct the museum and provide tours of the Hjemkomst Viking Ship and Hopperstad Stave Church replica, community artifacts owned by the City of Moorhead. HCSCC also manages historic sites throughout Clay County, including the Comstock House and Bergquist Cabin, and directs Viking Connection, a program developing Viking Age heritage arts in the Upper Midwest.

To stay connected with HCSCC's latest events, exhibitions, and research, sign up for our monthly eNewsletter here.
