About HCSCC

Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting local history in Clay County, where we direct our museum, archives, and programming. Our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share the history and culture of Clay County, Minnesota. In short, we tell local stories.

We are located in the City of Moorhead’s Hjemkomst Center. We direct the Clay County museum and archives at the Hjemkomst Center and provide tours of Moorhead's Hjemkomst Viking Ship and Hopperstad Stave Church. We also manage historic sites throughout Clay County, including the Comstock House and the Bergquist Cabin. Our newest program, Viking Connection, develops Viking Age heritage arts in the Upper Midwest.

To stay connected to HCSCC's latest events, exhibitions, and research, sign up for our semi-monthly eNewsletter here.

For questions about event rentals at the Hjemkomst Center, please contact Moorhead Parks & Rec.
