Image: a banner promoting Pangea: Cultivate Our Cultures, detailing the information found below.

This fall we moved our annual multicultural festival Pangea — Cultivate Our Cultures online, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For 26 years Pangea has highlighted and celebrated the diversity of our community in and around Fargo-Moorhead. In recent years we've held the festival at the Hjemkomst Center on the second Saturday in November — and it's become on the museum's and community's most beloved events. A group of local chefs, musicians, artists, and merchants share the unique traditions that they and their families have brought here to the Red River Valley. Thousands of visitors join them. Our museum and auditorium become an international market where the flavors of chai and samosas complement the aromas of aebelskiver and lumpia and the sounds of mariachi and indigenous drumming. The global roots of our community are on full display. They stretch from the Bering Sea and New England and Norway and Mexico and Bavaria and Somalia and Egypt and Vietnam and so much of everything in between.

We hope you will enjoy this small glimpse of our community as we trace just a few of those roots here.

Stay safe. Join us when Pangea returns to the Hjemkomst Center next year.
