In 2013, Minnesota became the 12th state in the US to legally recognize same-sex marriages. This meant that two people of any gender could get married and have the same rights and protections as heterosexual couples.

Just after midnight on August 1, 2013, moments after the law went into effect, 18 same-sex couples were married at the Clay County Courthouse.

Over ten years later, we remember that day and the progress that has been made for LGBTQ+ rights. At Last: Marriage Equality tells the story of that night and the fight for same-sex marriage in Minnesota.
