Marketing Coordinator

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County (HCSCC) at the Hjemkomst Center seeks an entry-level full-time marketing coordinator. Individual must be energetic, highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, team-minded, and willing to do a variety of other museum tasks when needed.

The HCSCC is the non-profit organization that runs the museum at the Hjemkomst Center for the City of Moorhead. We collect, preserve, and interpret the history and cultural heritage of Clay County. Our exhibits include permanent, temporary, and traveling displays of interest to the general public with a focus on history and cultural heritage.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Writes and sends out press releases on every exhibit, event, and board meeting in time to alert the public to important dates

-Writes and sends out press releases making important announcements such as grants received or awards won

- Designs brochures, posters, flyers, and programs with graphic design features to promote exhibits and events

- Arranges to have all printed materials printed, whether in-house or at a printer, whichever is most cost-effective

- Makes sure these are distributed throughout the community appropriately

-Secures services of non-profit poster delivery person

-Delivers special promotion materials to venues as needed

-Creates and prints all special event signage

-Arranges for radio and TV interviews for special events and exhibit openings

-Maintains and updates the website

-Maintains and updates Facebook and Twitter regularly

-Supports fundraising efforts by working with Executive Director on preparing print materials for mailings

-Coordinates opportunities for marketing booth at outside events

-Puts together a quarterly newsletter to members and coordinates mailing

-Represents the organization in a professional manner to all print/media contacts.

Secondary Responsibilities:

-Learns the cash registers in the gift shop and at admissions desk to substitute occasionally for those positions

-Learns to give guided tours of the Stave Church for occasional subbing

-Helps to set up for special events

-Works special events as needed

Minimum Requirements

-College degree

- Excellent clear and correct writing skills

- Course work in technical writing, marketing, or communications

- Ability or willingness to learn website, Facebook, and Twitter account upkeep

Preferred Skills and Experience

-Degree in communications or English or marketing

-Graphic design experience, professional or course work

-Marketing experience

-Experience working in a non-profit setting

-Familiarity with Adobe, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver
