Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists’ BIG Show

4th Floor Gallery | The Hjemkomst Center

April 17 – June 9

One of the Fargo-Moorhead community’s major arts organizations, the FMVA, fills the 4th Floor Gallery at the Hjemkomst Center with fantastic, locally-produced art every spring, offering a unique and current glimpse into the artistic minds of the area. As with years passed, this year’s BIG Show features arts educators, emerging artists, and established masters, and their work is presented with artistic statements describing their inspirations and techniques.

This year’s show features more than 70 pieces and is curated by FMVA member Jackie Anderson. It is the most comprehensive viewing in the Fargo-Moorhead community of local artists in one place and the collection includes photography, paintings, and sculptures, including one piece measuring over 7ft. long. Predominant themes this year include social justice and nature themes, particularly some gorgeous skies, landscapes, and animals. As FMVA member and Vice-president Karen Perry Anderson says, “This show is truly a local art collector’s shopping dream.”

*In addition to the full exhibition, the artists of the FMVA will be joining HCSCC staff and members for the opening reception on Tuesday, April 18, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. The reception is free and open to the public, and it offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate local art and engage with local artists. Refreshments will be served on the 3rd Floor near HCSCC offices.
