On Wednesday nights throughout the month of October, we’re hosting classic horror/monster movies at the Comstock House. Members of MSUM’s The Film Loop will introduce the films with a brief history at 7:00PM and moderate a short discussion afterward.*

On Wednesday, October 11, we screen two films: what Roger Ebert called “the first true horror film,” The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920); and the unofficial German Dracula film that’s become one of the most influential vampire horror films in the world, Nosferatu (1922).

On Wednesday, October 18, we screen another German classic, Vampyr (1932); and what’s often cited as the first zombie movie, White Zombie (1932), starring Bela Lugosi.

On Wednesday, October 25, we screen the George Romero “ghoul” movie that revolutionized zombie culture, Night of the Living Dead (1968).

Admission and popcorn are free; soda, water, and beer will be available for purchase.

Seats may be reserved here.

*To learn more, join us on Monday, October 30, at 6:30PM for a lecture discussing a history of monsters and their relationship to Victorian-era pseudoscience.
